    Beagle Aircraft

    Since being founded in 1956, Beagle Aircraft has been involved with the development and support of many major programmes across all market sectors and has invested heavily in incorporating technology across the business. Their expertise lies in the creation of value-added niche engineering from concept to supply. Beagle Aircraft designs and manufactures metallic and composite parts and structures, as well as highly finished components for the Aerospace, Space and Defence markets.

    The Scope

    Beagle Aircraft approached Rejuvenate IT in 2017 as they were looking to move away from an internal IT service and to begin utilising the expertise of a local MSP. Beagle Aircraft felt they needed a guiding hand that they could trust to take them through the process of upgrading their IT infrastructure from outdated hardware/software to a modern secure standard.

    The Solution

    Following an initial audit of the IT setup at Beagle Aircraft, Rejuvenate IT found several areas that required improvement to meet modern security standards. These areas were discussed with Beagle Aircraft directors and a plan of action was formed remaining within the discussed budget.

    Servers

    Our main priority was to migrate away from the legacy servers that Beagle Aircraft were using at the time. An on-site Exchange 2010 server was in use, so we moved the email services to Microsoft 365 Exchange to provide a more functional service with stronger security to Beagle Aircraft users. There were also a number of servers that were running on Windows Server 2003 that we migrated to modern versions of Windows Server. This was done to remove the vulnerabilities presented by having an out-of-support OS version. Whilst upgrading these servers, we migrated from 7 physical servers to a fully virtualised environment using Hyper-V giving them much more room in the server room.

    Network Infrastructure

    Our second priority for Beagle Aircraft was to upgrade the network infrastructure as the hardware in use could only provide 10/100 speeds. On top of that, the wireless access points that were installed were only capable of running at Wi-Fi 2 standard. Rejuvenate IT replaced this equipment with the latest Unifi networking equipment that is capable of running at gigabit speeds and Access Points that use the Wi-Fi 6 standard. This dramatically improved the network performance for the users, which is vital due to the size of the files that they are constantly reading/writing to on their file server.

    Backup Up

    Rejuvenate IT implemented Veeam Backup & Replication to provide a resilient off-site disaster recovery service and reliable backups following the 3-2-1 strategy. We also configured Microsoft 365 Backup to provide a local backup copy of Microsoft 365 Cloud Storage and Exchange Mailboxes.

    Recent Changes

    In recent years, we have worked with Beagle Aircraft to migrate them away from ISDN telephone lines and onto our cloud hosted VoIP system. With the assigned staff, we have implemented features that they did not previously have, such as an IVR, call queues and opening hour conditions.
    In 2023, Beagle Aircraft migrated away from a standard broadband line as their main internet connection and onto an ethernet leased line. Whilst this has improved their internet connection speed and given them a higher bandwidth, the main reason for this was for reliability. The leased line has not had any downtime since being installed allowing Beagle Aircraft peace of mind when it comes to their internet connection.

    The Results

    Beagle Aircraft now have a modern and secure workspace. The performance and efficiency of their team has improved.
    Recently Beagle Aircraft have attained Cyber Essentials certification, and they are aiming to pass the Cyber Essential Plus certification to show the level of security that they are applying to their customer’s data.
    Working with the Beagle Aircraft staff, Rejuvenate IT are able to offer a great level of support to the users, returning their confidence in their IT.
